Judy friedberg

For many years, Judy edited different bits of the Guardian - most recently she was Universities Editor. She has also been a visiting professor at Coventry University.

Before that, she worked on radio and magazines. She taught English in schools and literacy in squatter camps.

Along the way, she's gathered interviewing skills, a grasp of digital and design principles, and most of all, an ability to help people clarify their ideas and communicate them effectively.

Here’s what Judy says about how to make an interview great:

You need colour in your interviews and colour comes from small relatable details. But what makes an interview really memorable is when the colour is surprising. Something you won't get from a generic form sent out to students/academics...”

What people say about our ‘HOW TO GET STAND-OUT INTERVIEWS’ workshop:

Mhari MacDonald - Head of marketing, external relations, University of Dundee

"The Interview Skills training session was great! Really provoked a lot of thought. I hope that we can continue to make progress on how we gather student and academic stories. Thank you for all of your help."
